Why do I need special pads for the postpartum period?
Every woman bleeds for up to about 6 weeks after giving birth. This bleeding is called lochia. The lochia is usually (especially in the first few days) much heavier than the period. The absorbency and size of normal pads or period underwear are simply not sufficient for this.
How many sanitary pads do I need during the postpartum period?
Since the bleeding is very heavy at the beginning, we recommend at least 2 packs.
How often should I change the pad?
We recommend changing the pad every 3 - 5 hours. If your bleeding is heavier, adjust the change time accordingly. This may be the case especially in the first few days.
How much blood does the pad absorb?
Our MyClarella Postpartum Pad Extra Strong absorbs up to 350 ml of blood. Ordinary pads absorb between 50 - 100 ml.
